Marcelo Santos has been a faculty member of the Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the University of New Brunswick since 2000.

He holds a B. Sc. E. degree in Cartographic (Geomatics) Engineering from Rio de Janeiro State University (1982). In 1990 he obtained his M. Sc. degree in Geophysics from the Rio de Janeiro National Observatory. In 1995 he obtained his Ph. D. degree in Geodesy from the University of New Brunswick.

Soon after obtaining his B. Sc. E. degree, Dr. Santos worked in the private sector and at the Directorate of Hydrography of the Brazilian Navy. After obtaining his Ph. D. degree, Dr. Santos worked as Associate Researcher at the Department of Geophysics of the Rio de Janeiro National Observatory, and as professor at the Department of Geomatics of the Federal University of Paraná, in Brazil. Dr. Santos has also worked as consultant to Canadian and international private and government agencies.

His research interests are related to Space and Physical Geodesy, GNSS and navigation. His teaching areas are geodesy, adjustments, and kinematic positioning.

In a Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering, Marcelo holds the flag of Geodesy.
